Christmas Vacation day 1
1. Wake up in Marin County and promptly hand Rowan over to his cousins who assume complete control.
2. Drink copious amounts of coffee while staring at Mt. Tamalpais out the window.
3. Eat Christmas cookies for breakfast.
4. Marvel at the fact that we haven't had to check on Rowan since giving him to his cousins.
5. Load into the car and head to the beach.
6. Hike and play!

Getting to work
Me, doing my impression of a snake eating a large rodent whole. I must be searching for new prey.
A little kelp - Nereocystis - which means mermaid's bladder. Yep, mermaid's bladder.

What we saw:
1. A Mama deer and fawns
2. A bunch of elk
3. A bobcat!!
4. Seal or sea lion (dubious)
5. Lots of mole crabs
6. Brian (the little one) said he saw a bat and perhaps a jaguar. (fairly dubious)
What we didn't see but later felt:
1. The ubiquitous yet inconspicuous devil. Poison oak.
